François Joseph Charles (Brussels 1851-1940) impressionist painter of landscapes, beach and seascapes. He worked in the Sonian Forest near Brussels, in the Kempen and the Ardennes. He regularly exhibited at the Cercle des Beaux-Arts in Liège (1905-34). He was a member of the "L'Essor" art circle (1887) and of the "Salon des Artistes français" (1913). Works acquired by the state and in the museums of Brussels, Charleroi and Saint-Josse-ten-Noode.
