Vasili Vasilevich Strigin was born in the village Uspenka in Olkhovskiy district of the Volgograd region (Russia). In 1939 he graduated from the Art School of Stalingrad. He participated in the Great Patriotic War. In the postwar years he contnued to work as an artist. He was elected twice the chairman of the Volgograd branch of the Union of Artists.
